Yesterday

So, bit of a lax day for me on Monday. I felt like doing nothing and that is exactly what I did. I will be better today, I promise.

New TV

This morning, before leaving for classes/work, I and my family gathered in the den to check the weather and local news. Much to our dismay, our old 42 inch tube television just flickered on and off. Angrily we all left, to go about our business. My brother and I to class, dad to work, and mom to pick up what she needed to work from home. However, my mother apparently decided to purchase a new television during her lunch break. So my brother and I arrive home to find a new 42 inch Vizio flat screen LCD HD 3D tv. The picture quality on this thing is amazing. I haven't hooked my Xbox or Wii up to it yet, but it is just jaw-dropping.

Evening update, with Turtle

So yeah...did two hours of legs and shoulders today....I'd really like to make a long winded post about how I feel good about myself, for hitting the gym after almost twelve years of not working out...but yeah. Instead I will go over why I haven't really exercised in so long. As previously stated, I'm twenty-five. When I finished my eighth grade year, I decided to join the football team for the highschool, and went to the spring training for it, my last couple weeks of middle school. Things went well, and although I'm not a particularly big individual, I'm stocky for my size. Currently I'm five foot six, and weigh 188lbs. I however have seven and a half inch wrists. What this signifies is that I'm a large frame person. Short, but thick,  strong bones. I'm wide shouldered, and were it not for the gut, small waisted. So, despite being a small guy height wise, I can still pack on the power. Anyways, this proved to be a virtue for me training for highschool football. I was assigned to be defensive and offensive right tackle. Most of our other linemen were six foot dudes(at 14 and 15!) and weighed over two hundred. So I went to every weight training the school offered that summer. On the last day, on my last set on the leg press machine, my right foot slips, and although the machine had safety-catches, it whacked my knee on the way down and the trauma knocked bone off the back side of my patella. It took 10 x-rays and 3 MRIs to figure out what was wrong/get my parents insurance at the time to pay for me to have knee surgery. After that it was three months on crutches and six months of physical therapy. Needless to say, I decided to spend the  rest of highschool eating snacks and drinking beer with my buddies. Which leads me to the out-of-shape guy I am today. But I'm working on getting back in shape. So kudos to me, and kudos to anyone else who is picking themself up out of their chair and working on it.

Why does it have to be hard.

Hitting the gym again today, shoulders and legs. Still sore from Monday, but I will muscle through it....hopefully. More updates to come. As always feel free to follow me and comment.

Neat project

So this is a little something some of the other guys in the welding classes I'm taking are working on in their spare time. It's a fairly cool little cycle. However they are having a bit of trouble with the clutch and sprocket, it keeps throwing the chain, which means once it does, forward motion sort of ceases.

So weak.

I went to the gym yesterday, really worked out for the the first time in almost twelve years. I went with my younger brother and his friend who works as a personal trainer and is a body builder. They made me go easy, which is good I guess, but I can still barely lift my arms. The work out consisted of two hours of chest and tricep exercises. We performed four sets of ten repetitions on the bench press, the incline bench, the reverse incline, followed by several different styles of dumbell presses for the chest and the triceps. I'd like to say I was on par with them with what I was lifting, but I wasn't. On the bench exercises, I was doing single 35lb plates on each side, where as they started with single 45lb plates, and then went up to 2 for my brother and three for his friend. I feel rather weak, but on the plus side, Will, our body builder friend, says I can lift a decent amount of weight for someone that's been loafing around for twelve years. So I guess hooray for me. Today...I'm thinking fishing and light cardio....

Monday, a day...

....That we all hate. I really detest Monday, first day back to work (if you have a job), or class after a weekend. Currently I'm out of work, but working hard at finding a new job, and going to school for welding. I've looked into some welding jobs, but I don't really feel like I would have the time to work the job and go to class due to what the schedule would be like. Hopefully something will come up.

Today, I woke up at six, fully intending to get up, and go for a walk. I need to get into better shape, I'm a little on the fat side. I actually want to be able to do the P90x work outs(I have the DVDs), but I'm too out of shape for them. I attempted them a few months back, I did the first week, and then couldn't walk the following week, so I kind of set them to the side. I know they work though, I just need to be in shape enough to do them. Anyway, I intended to go for a jog this morning, step out the door, and head towards the street when my stomach started to pain me. Guess like the jambalaya I made last night wanted to say 'good f'ing morning to you!'

Bleh

Seven-thirty in the morning...sinus headache, have class in thirty minutes....I continue to work with aluminum. More updates forthcoming throughout the day.

Poor buy?

So about a week or so ago I decided to take up fly fishing. I went a few times as a kid, and like many people who enjoy the outdoors, I admire these particular anglers for their talent and skill. I sought out my local tackle shop and lucking out, had to purchase a discount package including a rod, reel, line, leader and a small assortment of flies. It cost me roughly forty dollars. I've been practicing with it, and caught a few brim...but my reel broke a day ago.

First!

Alight, so as it says, this is my first ever post. So kudos to me, and to any of the luckless few intent enough on browsing the web to actually find me. As stated in my little info pane, I'm a welding student. I've also studied a little English down at AASU in Savannah, Georgia and am a Founding Father of the Omicron-Iota Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. I don't really have any major plans for this blog, it's more of an experiment really. As the title suggests, with the obvious Adam's reference, my major topic could be thought to be the meaning of life, however, I'm not going to take on the onerous task of finding it, merely talk about random things I do or find. Expect things about videogames, fishing, working(or the complete lack of it), and anything else I can think of. With that, welcome, hello, howdy, guttentag, konnichiwa, hola.
